Hello my name is Hart. I was given that to start my new life as I stole my foster mom's heart. I need a new and better life as my first one was with people who terrorized and abused me making me very fearful of quick movements and loud noises. I have horrible nightmares and wake up screeching and attacking anything that is near. The other night my Mom woke up when she heard me snarling and saw me attacking Cash her 110 lb black Lab. Fortunately I did not really bite just acted and sounded like I was. Cash just sat there trying to figure out what was going on. My nightmares are not as often now but just never know when they will occur. When I first arrived a month ago I walked hunched over and tip-toeing trying to make sure no one noticed me because being noticed is scarey to me. I came with a double ear infection and cough as well as needing to be neutered. I have had the neuter done and up to date on shots, HW and Lyme negative. The cough ended up being a collapsed trachia and since I am such a small guy it was narrow to begin with. This is a common problem in the smaller toy breeds. I am taking cough pills and benadryl to keep the inflamation down but when I get excited or over worked I cough a bit. I love to be held like a baby being burped and now that I trust my mom I JUMP into her arms when she comes home. She holds me there until all the other dogs are out and running in the yard before she puts me down to do my business. I prefer to be in the yard without all the other dogs as they scare me a bit. If provoked with a challenging growl I answer right back and have gotten into a few scraps with Hero her 22lb foster Eskie. I do not back down and make as much noise as I can and it takes quite a bit for my foster mom to calm me down. In fact if she picks me up when I am still snarling and snapping it takes me a while to realize it and she has to be careful to not get bit. It is just I am so scared, once she starts stroking me and letting me know I am safe again I burrow into her shoulder, shaking. I am a small boy only 11 lbs and I love to be held and go with you everywhere. I ride well in the car but want to be in the drivers seat so some sort of restraint has to be used to keep me in my seat. When Mom is in the store I sit quietly in the car waiting for her. Of course if a stranger comes near I protect the car...actually I am scared to death! Also when Mom is working on her computer sitting in bed I like to crawl up and lay across her chest so she pays attention to me and not that stupid machine! I climb like a cat and will hop from bed to night stand to desk. It is how I stay away from the other dogs. I do have my snarling side and HATE getting ear drops in my ears. My foster Mom has a real hard time doing it herself although she trys...sometimes she is successful and other times not. She brushes me everyday and I am not fond of having my back end or belly brushed but I tolerate one or two strokes. What has amazed me is how she forgives me for my outbursts and does not beat on me for them. I would do best in a home without children as I want to be the pampered baby. Even though little please realize I have a wild, snarley side that I show when I do not want to do something.
