About Rocket

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 06-159
Hi, my name is Rocket! I'm a 2-year old standard-sized American Eskimo male who weighs about 30 pounds. I was given up by my previous owner who didn't have enough time for me due to of major life changes (marriage and a new baby), so now I'm looking for my new forever family.

I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, and heartworm negative. We're lucky here in Colorado, because we don't need to be on heartworm meds (or even flea or tick meds), but if I get adopted out of state it will be very important that you keep me on these monthly preventive treatments so I can stay healthy for you. I'm still being housetrained, but I'm very eager to learn--and we Eskies are VERY smart dogs!

I get along fine with other dogs and love to play with them--in fact, I would very much prefer to be adopted into a home that already has a dog for me to become friends with, so I don't get lonely. I don't like cats, though, I must admit. I would do fine with older children, though I probably am too high-energy to be around younger, smaller kids.

I really enjoy playing, but I also love to cuddle with you as well. I love my rawhide chew treats, though I am somewhat possessive of them (and my toys too). But I let my foster mommy take them away from me without any problems, so she doesn't think I'm aggressive. (Maybe I never had these fun things in my other life, so I want to make sure I don't lose them, now that I've discovered how great they are.) My foster mommy is working with me on these issues, and she says I'm really showing signs of improvement.

I'm a very loving boy who just wants my fair share of human contact. I need someone who will play and exercise with me. I would do best in a home with two loving parents who can devote enough time to me that I feel truly loved and wanted. Is that too much to ask? I don't think so!

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Wanda at: wanda@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: trudy@eskierescuersunited.org. Better yet, you can go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me!

There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Longmont, CO with my foster mommy, Trudy.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!
