This sweet and beautiful eskie girl was rescued from a horrendous hoarding situation in TN with her siblings Kelly, Twister and Winnie.  Barbie was found to be extremely anemic and has required two blood transfusions to date.  She had dental work and a complete mastectomy; samples of the mammary tumors were sent for biopsy.  During surgery it was noted that her spleen would need to be removed within the next few weeks.  Barbie is Ehrlichia positive and is being treated with doxycycline.  This little girl came into rescue just in time.  She is the sweetest little girl, and though she must feel terrible right now she always wags her tail whenever I make eye contact with her.  We are committed to seeing her through this rough patch.  She will make an amazing companion and friend.

Update 7/19:  Barbie's bioposy came back negative!  Her spleen was removed last week without incident and she is doing very well.  She will have a follow-up appointemt on August 1st and have the stitches removed.  The doc is very hopeful that she will have a healthy life from here on out!

Barbie is now going on walks through the neighborhood.  She is an amzing little girl. 

These girls were taken to safety, along with many other dogs, before animal control confiscated the remaining animals (http://www.lebanondemocrat.com/story/breaking-news-man-faces-animal-cruelty-charge).  Thanks to all the rescue groups that pitched in to save these precious souls.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
