Update:  Garfunkle just spent five days being boarded at the local doggy day care along with his foster brother Ike.  At night they went to the owner's home.  Garfunkle's report card was glowing with praise.  He was "sweet, relaxed, friendly, shy and affectionate."  There were nine other dogs there and he got along with all of them from very large dogs to a 3-4 pound Pom that buzzed around faster than a mosquito.  The big news was Garfunkle met a man there and after checking him out from afar Garfunkle eventually let the man pat him before "Gar" went back to his observation post.  The man was very dog savvy and let Garfunkle come to him on Garfunkle's terms.  Eskies tend to be a wait-and-see breed who do not appreciate being hugged and loved on upon meeting someone.

He is trustworthly in the house and although he likes his crate one is not required in his forever home.  Garfunkle did choose a crate to sleep in at the owner's home.

Garfunkle is not for a first time dog owner or a family who is looking for a dog that will be happy with small children  Garfunkle does best living with adults.  His fear of some men is real and ideally if a F/M couple want to adopt him they need to know how to alleviate his fear and that takes a lot of time and training.   He may want to become over protective of the female and that has to be stopped. If you want an exceptional Eskie you must complete an application.  The application will come to me for processing.  Be very sure you can show you have experience to work with and love this wonderful yet sometimes afraid boy.  Garfunkle likes cats.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
