Kaya is a very sweet and mellow dog who enjoys attention but is usually content to just hang out nearby the rest of the time. She is with several other dogs in her foster home and has had no problems with them. She wants to be close to her human at all times but isn't a velcro dog. Just laying on the floor nearby is fine--but being petted or getting treats is better. Kaya was hit by a car 4 years ago and her left rear hip was damaged. That doesn't really slow her down but it does still hurt her sometimes and you have to be very careful in how you pick her up. This isn't hard to do--it's just a matter of avoiding touching or straining that hip. Because of the hip she can't jump well so she can't get up on furniture without help. At her foster home she has steps to help her reach the sofa or the bed so that she can do this on her own.
