Meet Honey! Honey was left in a "drop box" in a West Virginia shelter with a litter of puppies. Her puppies went to a different rescue and Honey went to Mars, PA. When Honey got to mars, she had huge mats behind her ears and she had lost all of her undercoat. She looked more pink then white! But after a couple of weeks on a steady diet she now has a soft white coat. Honey is a very sweet girl once she gets used to her new environment. She makes a great cuddle partner! I let her lay in my lap when I'm on the computer or watching a movie. She's almost completely house trained but she still has accidents every once in awhile. She does well in a crate and I put her in one when I leave the house and at bedtime. Honey is great with other dogs. One of her favorite pastimes is wrestling with my other foster, Wookie. Honey can take some time to warm up and bond to you. The best thing to do is put Honey on a leash and attach her to something so that she will have to stay near you. Then just go about your own business and let her get comfortable. If you do this regularly, after a few days she will start coming to you to get a pat on the head. After a few more days she will come to you to sit on your lap. Then watch out! She will be all over you in a week. But it is important to be patient with her at first. Honey enjoys going outside for short walks. At first until she warms up to you she won't walk on the leash very well. But after she trusts you, she will follow you on the leash. Until she responds to you, it is best to keep her on a leash both indoors and outdoors. Otherwise you will not be able to catch her! Once she bonds with you, then she will come when you call her. If you are looking for a sweet small cuddle partner, then Honey is the dog for you. She will sit on your lap or lay next to you for hours. Honey was diagnosed with a luxating patella in both of her back legs. The vet said that since she is so small her risk of developing arthritis is very low and probably will never need surgery. He said to give her a baby aspirin when needed for pain. She doesn't let it get in her way though! She runs up and down stairs like a champ and loves to race the other dogs outside. Honey is spayed and up to date on her shots. She is currently on heartworm and flea/tick preventive.
