WHERE I'M BEING FOSTERED:Martinsburg, PA

Hi, my name is Reuben ... like the sandwich. That's because I'm so friendly that I love to have my head sandwiched between your hands as you pet me.

See I was part of a group of 11 dogs that were rescued from this abandoned house- we're known as the PA-11. Since I only had the company of 10 other dogs, I really missed having a human owner.

So I'm starved for attention. If I hear you call my name, or look at me, or if I sense that you're even thinking about me, I get so excited! I do a little eskie dance and my tail wags as fast as a fan. But if you pet me, I stay perfectly still because I don't want you to stop.

I get along with other people and the two older children at my foster dad's place. I would probably get along with younger children, but not small young children because I get so excited that I might knock them down. I even get along with other dogs. We're not sure about cats because there are none to be found around here.

I do really well on the leash. I don't pull at all because I don't want to go very far away from you. I love to go on walks and am active outdoors but when evening comes I just love to lay around and just be near you and snuggle. I'm mostly white with a hint of biscuit color on the top of my back and in my tail. If you should leave me, don't worry. I just wait patiently for your return. I'm even crate trained. I'm not an excessive barker.

I'm neutered and I tested negative for heartworm. I'm current on all my vaccinations and I'm on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative. We're still working on the housebreaking thing. I went so long without an owner that I just never learned those things. I still want to mark things but my foster dad says that's because I was just recently neutered. But I'm a fast learner and am easily trained, so with a little patience I should get the hang of it pretty soon.

My foster dad says that if you're interested in me you should fill out an adoption application for me right away because since I'm such a small, cute and friendly guy I'll probably be adopted fast. He says that some lucky person out there is going to get a super dog ... and far be it from me to disagree with him!

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Gina at: Gina@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also click here to fill out an adoption application for me.

There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Martinsburg, PA with my foster daddy, Jim.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.)

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!
