Don't wait, someone else might apply for me ahead of you - D'OH!!! I was rescued in the nick of time from the Miami shelter, so I'm one lucky dude to be alive. I'm very affectionate and sweet to people, including children, and I generally get along with other dogs, unless they happen to be the male dominant type. That kind doesn't set too well with me! We're not sure how I would do around cats. If you have other dogs, I would need some adjustment time. Don't expect me to be all best friends right away, it took me a couple of weeks to like all the dogs here, but now we all play and romp together. I had to be quarantined when I first got here to my foster home, because I came out of the shelter with a terrible cough and with lots of nasty things embedded in my coat. My foster parents had to shave my coat and clean me up - boy, I feel so much better already! They're so nice to me that they even air-conditioned their garage just so I would have a comfortable place to convalesce during my isolation. I'm just a young fella, but I'm neutered and up-to-date on my vaccinations. I tested negative for heartworm, and I'm on flea, tick and heartworm prevention. Now that I've gotten rid of that nasty cough, I'm good to go. My foster mommy and daddy are working on my housetraining, I am crate trained and I am good if I am in my special room i.e. bathroom or laundry room pet-gated in. But sometimes when I am bored I decide to "mark" my territory. Which I am told is not polite and a NO, NO.. I am getting better with this, but my new home will have to continue watching me and not give me too much freedom too fast. I have to earn my privileges. I would do great with an active guy, someone to take me running or for long walks to burn off energy so that way I am too tired to remember that big No-No. I do want to please and be the best boy I can be, when you say "Homer, you are such a good boy." My tail just wags and wags, so I do enjoy a compliment and praise. I'm crate- and leash-trained, and I ride very well in the car. I'm not food or toy aggressive, but I LOVE my stuffed toys--and I'm very good at playing fetch! Though I'm a very good boy, I will need some obedience training to learn my basic manners, like "sit," "stay," "come" and "off." I'm a fun-loving guy who likes to play, I am learning that watching tv and playing on the rug with all my toys is so much fun inside. I do love my foster daddy, we lay on the floor together and watch Animal Planet. I also have decided I love attention and being brushed and fussed on, even a bath is ok with me. I'm a very sweet boy who has been given a second chance at life, and now I'd like to spend it with a very special forever family - will that be you?
