Hi my name is Romeo and after some warming up time I will be your love! I love to roll over for belly rubs. I loved to join the doggy play group at the shelter. There was even a cat that I paid no attention to whatsoever.

I am skiddish around new people but warm up very quickly. My family refused to pay the fees to get me out of the shelter so I find myself without a home. They did not share much with the shelter but the workers feel a home without small children would be best.

I was not eating well and since I have been at the shelter for over a month the workers thought it was getting to me. Then they brought out the canned stuff and I am eating again. I just really like a change up of the menu.

I am what they call neutered and brought up to date on all my shots.

My new foster family is great they have two Eskies to play with and I just love playtime. I really would like a furever home to call my home soon so I can get a bunch of belly rubs and share all this love I have with my furever human.

My foster family describes me below:

Romeo is an adorable long haired American Eskimo dog. He stands just 16 inches tall at the shoulder, weighs about 18 lbs and is approximately 3 years old. His eyes are brown with a gold ring around the outside and with the distinctive American Eskimo mane on his chest. The interior of his ears are dark — not pink like our other two Eskies hinting to a little bit of a mix — but he is definitely an American Eskimo. He was fairly energetic when we first got him home, but has calmed down now and is settling in nicely with our other two Eskies.

He is an inquisitive little guy and loves belly rubs. He is skittish at first but warms up quickly to his humans. His name fits him well as he is a true lover, loves to be held and petted. He loves to be outside to sniff the air and explore. He would do best in a home with a fenced in back yard. He is well socialized with other animals and, although we have never seen him around children, we expect that he would do quite well with kids. He is a well behaved inside dog, is housetrained and very obedient with basic commands (come, sit, stay and ‘no’).

He is relatively quiet, but will surprise you with a bark from time to time if something catches his attention. Although we don’t know much about his history, it is obvious that he has been well treated with no behavioral problems and really deserves a loving home. He will definitely return all the love a good family has to give.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
