Hi there!  My name is Ricky and I was recently rescued from a very scary shelter!  They found me as a stray with my friend, Lucy.  You can see her website on ERU too...I'm the smaller, tanish eskie in our photo.  Lucy and I were wandering the streets together so we developed a good friendship.  I'd really like to be adopted with Lucy if possible, but I understand that might not happen.  We are both pretty underweight right now since we were on the streets with no regular meals, but we are eating much better now, which is great!  When I was picked up from the shelter, I was covered in motor oil, so part of the tan that you see in my photo is from the oil!  I'm going to get a bath soon though, and then I will get a new picture taken

I am very shy with new people...the ERU people that picked me up think I haven't been around too many people in my short life.  But even though I'm really shy, I am still a really nice boy...just very shy.  I even let them pick me up when they rescued us from the shelter!  When I was brought in to the vet where Lucy and I are staying, I said hello to everyone and then just observed them for a while.  It's a lot to take in when you aren't used to people!  But I get along great with other dogs - especially Lucy - and I am good with cats too.

Right now, Lucy and I are getting ready to be "fixed"...whatever that means!  We had kennel cough from the shelter where we were staying so we have been treated for that and we are both doing really well.  But the vet wants us to be completely better before we are "fixed."

ERU is still learning about me and Lucy, and they will be posting more information on us soon.  In the meantime, I'm learning to be around lots of different people and animals, so I'll be ready for my new family when they come!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
